The Captain
Rick Caton was born in 1960 and has been a full time fisherman since the age of 15—fishing both commercially and charter. He has fished the Bahamas, Florida, and up and down the coast of North Carolina. He fished for numerous years out of Oregon Inlet and has fished as a mate for numerous years for some sport fishing pioneers like Buddy Cannady, John Bayliss, and Tony Tillett.
He now runs his charter operation out of Hatteras at Teach’s Lair. Rick has been running his charterboat, “Free Agent” as a captain since 1987 and helped pioneer the Tarpon Fishing in Pamlico Sound, NC.
He now charter fishes inshore as well as offshore year round out of Hatteras and commercial fishes with his son, Patrick Caton, on the “Little Clam” when not chartering in the winter out of Hatteras.
